      I've found your whales for you. They were reported in 'The New Zealand Times' on January 10 1884. The article was repeated in The Colonist on 12 January 1884

      "One of the employees at the gasworks saw the monsters splashing around just inside the trestle railway which has been built in connection with the Te Aro reclaimation..."
