HO18/149/41 Petition of George Hey
Our Education Document of the Month for January is this personal petition written directly by the prisoner George Hey who admits being guilty of embezzlement [theft from his workplace] in 1 January, 1845. In the letter he asks that his sentence of transportation to Australia be carried out immediately as his health cannot withstand the conditions within Pentonville Prison.
