So we're all in the bus and everyone is exhausted and Stonehenge appears in the distance. It's a lot closer to the highway than I thought. There were NO people. I was amazed. However, as soon as we pulled in we were soon surrounded by five other buses. Rather than wait for the tour guide and headphones I rushed past the gift shop, under the road and up the hill to Stonehenge. It was just as eerie and mystic as I imagined it would be and I quickly shot a number of exposures at different angles before the rush hit. At first I was hoping to get the "iconic" shot everyone seems to capture; where all the stones seem to be in perfect unison but then I realized I never go with the crowd and decided on this shot. I have three others I love as well but this was the only one without people in it. I kind of wish someone was taking a private tour so you could see the scale and size comparison but just know that these are mammoth stones that left me amazed and bewildered.
My uncle Spresser camped in the middle of these giants back in the 70's but I can't imagine looking up at the stars and having these giant shadows lurking over you.
