Words and Pictures

17 teachers from four Durham Public Elementary Schools (Forest View, Hope Valley, Southwest and Spring Valley) worked for a full week at the Nasher Museum of Art to develop English Language Arts and Visual Arts lessons infused with art from the Nasher’s permanent collection. Their work will form the backbone of the “Words and Pictures” program funded by a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts. During the 2012-2013 school year, the teachers will implement the lessons with their Kindergarten, First and Second grade students and visit the museum regularly with their students.
