Open Wide for Webb's NIRSpec

A cargo plane opened wide at Baltimore's BWI airport revealing NASA's Webb telescope's Near Infrared Spectrograph or NIRSpec, newly arrived from Germany. NIRSpec uses infrared light to analyze the physical properties and chemical composition of distant galaxies, stars and planets. NIRSpec was provided by the European Space Agency and built by EADS/Astrium. Webb is an international project led by NASA with its partners the European Space Agency and the Canadian Space Agency.
