Uncrating the Webb's MIRI Instrument

Engineers and scientists in the clean room at NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Md. uncrate the James Webb Space Telescope's Mid-Infrared Instrument (or MIRI) from it's Envirotainer (shipping container) on May 30, 2012. The MIRI was shipped from the Science and Technology Facilities Council's (STFC) Rutherford Appleton Laboratory (RAL) in the U.K. For more information on the MIRI and Webb telescope, visit: www.jwst.nasa.gov.
