#JWSTArt - by Peter Sooy
April is National Poetry Month! Write a poem, and if it's inspired by the James Webb Space Telescope, tag us and let us know! You can email us at jwst@lists.nasa.gov.
A submission to our #JWSTArt social media campaign by Peter Sooy.
Here is the text of the poem:
Living in a routine - my everyday mold,
Imagining the world beyond the confines of home.
Looking to the stars, wondering what they hold.
I think I’ll pen an intergalactic poem.
For National Poetry Month this year,
We explore an art form difficult to explain.
Something beyond our everyday sphere:
Rhyming verses about the celestial plane.
Discovery and breakthrough are at stake,
Longing for images of infrared traverse,
That the James Webb Space Telescope will take
Of groundbreaking aspects of our vast universe.
Hoping for the first sight of star and galaxy birth,
Infrared images of exoplanets far and planets near,
Circling the sun in an orbit one million miles from Earth,
Webb will launch to space next year!
So, If you’re a poet or not,
A student, a teacher, or a celeb.
Jot down a poem about space or any thought
And tag us at #NASAWebb.
