Secondary Mirror Boom Deployment

The center section of the pathfinder (test) backplane of the James Webb Space Telescope arrived at NASA Goddard in July 2014. After it was moved into place in the assembly stand in the cleanroom, two of the three booms that support the secondary mirror were extended. Over the next few months, the flight spare secondary mirror will be installed, as well as two spare primary mirror segments. After this, the structure and mirrors will go to NASA Johnson for cryogenic testing.
