Milwaukee Road MP15AC ﹟437 was in service for only one week when it took a spill into the Ottawa turntable pit. A rookie hostler started the unit but didn't wait to get enough pressure in the air brake system before attempting to move it. A crowd has already gathered to figure out what to do next... and how they are going to explain it to the superintendent.
When the roundhouse foreman (left) came upon the scene of his new locomotive sitting in the turntable pit, he could be heard shouting: "THIS IS WHY WE CAN'T HAVE ANYTHING NICE AROUND HERE!"
This shot was inspired by a photo taken by Craig Willett at an operating session when a locomotive crept into the turntable pit. It was re-staged with figures added to tell the story. Mark Ziebell was the source of the caption. The locomotive is an Athearn Genesis model; the figures are by Preiser.
