Every Hmong home has one Roster, who is the guardian/ruler of the home. Roosters and chickens are often used in ceremonies to communicate with the spirits, but they are visible around the homes and nearby fields. Here is Bo again playing with her family guardian rooster. I was surprised to see that he did not try to escape even when she held him lightly. One of Bo’s responsibilities is to feed the household animals. The Hmong have very strong connection with the household animals, weather it’s the buffalo, pigs, ducks and chickens and of course dogs.
