A rainy day on the Perfume River

This is one of those images that you need to see in a video, if not in real life. It’s the magical movement of the rower that I can still see when looking at this. It was raining… but life doesn’t stop because of rain in this tropical weather. Please not how they stand on the edge to control to boat with their feet and how flat and close to the water it is.

Hue city, in center Vietnam, used to be the Emperor seat and the old Capital. Situated on both sides of the beloved Perfume River, origin of name: In the autumn, flowers from orchards upriver from Huế fall into the water, giving the river a perfume-like aroma)

They are among the estimated over 100,000 people who live on the river in small boats. Hard to imagine how poor they are. While my images will show the beauty of the people and the river in this slow pace and tranquil, old fashioned town, life is very hard here.
