As some of you may know, a while ago I found out that a large chain store was selling this image on a t-shirt without seeking permission. Since then, things have gone a step further and I have launched proceedings against them in the Federal Magistrates Court. Today's papers (15/01/13) have gotten hold of the story which has been great because its helping to get the word out....YOU CAN'T JUST TAKE AN IMAGE OFF THE INTERNET and claim it as your own or sell it to make a profit - Those images belong to the person who took them. STOP TAKING THINGS THAT DON'T BELONG TO YOU. And for all of those people who say it's fair game because it's on the net....NO, that is not true. Copyright lasts a lifetime plus 70 years. Yes, some websites have fine print which will allow them to use your photos on their sites (eg. Instagram and FB), but that is up to you to read the fine print. That doesn't mean that anyone else is allowed to come onto that site and take your image. So come on peoples -
IF YOU DIDN'T TAKE THE PHOTO - IT'S NOT YOURS!
