Parlange Plantation, New Roads, Louisiana
In working on my family genealogy, I discovered that an ancestor on my father's side built this plantation back in the 1700's. He was an early indigo planter who settled here from France. THe history of New Roads is interesting in that the Mississippi River used to flow past the town; hence, the many river road plantations. Now the body of water is called False River because it no longer flows through to the Gulf of Mexico, but has become something of a Lake instead.
