On the Dark Side
This is alot of pics of the same Bird on the same perch, but there is a reason behind it. Anyone who has known me for awhile knows I have been quite frightened of these Huge "Buzzards" since my childhood growing up out West in Montana. To me, they have always been the ultimate symbol of Death, the Grim Reaper, the Devil incarnate.
Yes, they are gorgeous when gracefully soaring high in the sky, with their magnificent wing span 6 feet across or more --- I've stopped many, many times to take their photos.
I first spied this guy "fishing" the river as I was driving by (pic below) I had obviously (accidentally) stopped my car & got out by his favorite eating perch, because he flew right over to the area just above where I was walking, and landed so close to me, I couldn't believe it. It was only later when I saw the pics I had taken that I saw why he had let me spend such a long time taking dozens of shots so close to him. I think he must have thought I might climb up and try to steal what ever gore & guts breakfast he had left there before.
I am proud of myself for being so calm & focused standing in the wide open when being gifted with a photo op of such a huge magnificent creature in the Wild ----- one that could have "swooped down and tried to peck my eyes out at any moment." (-:
Although the flight images were really awesome in content, they were all terrible in focus -- thus the collage to mute how lousy the individual pics are.
