• The use of blue here is very official-Lego ; ) - Becheman
  • Except that they would probably be red... and round. - Proudlove
  • Are you sure about this? I get the idea it damages the clips in the long run... - mahjqa
  • Yes it will if left like this for too long - don't do it if you want the clip to remain nice and tight.
  • They're only blue because this was a blue Dalek, then I changed it to white because I couldn't find a blue dome!
  • Can this be reworked so the slope faces forward rather than back? - Doctor Sinister
  • I did it, works fine. You just have to switch one 1x2 plate from the back to the front. - raised

Build-a-Dalek

Newer Older

There are tons of great Dalek designs out there - a quick search here on Flickr will turn up dozens. Because I keep getting asked this is how I build mine.

(I'm sure bits of it are borrowed from other peoples LEGO Daleks, apologies to you for the lack of credit - if you think your's helped inspire me put a link in the comments!)

    Best design by far IMO.

I should think it would look better with the angled wedges facing forward--do they interfere with the plunger and gun that way?

I can see why people put 1x1 round plates on their Daleks, but I think that's too much for this scale.

Great, this one I am going to reproduce. Just because it looks fun. Thanks for sharing.

What's the last piece used in step 7? I don't recognize it...

It's just a regular clip and a microphone from the Collectible Minifig series.

Is it easily acquired? I tried special ordering the part on Lego's site and couldn't find it.

I just reproduced your Dalek with minor changes, I've put it in my stream. Fun model to built!

Looks great. Better than my attempt. Your central column is more robust than my effort. However Dalek plungers are on their right (just swap the appendages over). Aside from that, I have just have one small concern about those side slopes (noted above).

I might have a fiddle with this if I may?

I'm sure I've taken bits of this from others and of course everyone can either use this or adapt it. It's just how I do mine at the moment. (I will be swaping the plungers though - thanks for that).

Nice Dalek! And nice use of the microphone! Hadn't thought about using it for a dalek, really...

    I wondered that too.
