Giant shell money in East New Britain province, Papua New Guinea
The shell money is still used in the PNG islands, mainly for weddings. The shells are collected by the women on the beach. The collars like this one are also used to buy some daily products in markets. One collar has a value of 1 euro. For a wedding, you need a collar called a Loloii, it costs 60 euros. And if you kill someone, you need to pay 10 Lolois to the family, so 600 euros.
