Hamar kids Ethiopia

They had those big eyes cos they were seeing a Uta girl coming out of her house...see below...

Thie girl is called a "Uta". She is from the Hamer tribe, south Ethiopia. She has to remain in this house as long as her futur husband can find the money to pay the cows her family is asking for the wedding. She is totally covered with red clay and will be like this for 3 months! No bath, no shower!

She cannot go out of the house and of the village. Someone is looking at her to feed her. It's very rare to see a Uta.

In the area, all the tribes, like Mursi, Bodi, Surma, Nyangatom, Dasaanetch, Karo, etc have all strange traditions!

Few kilometers from Turmi, South Ethiopia
