Yorktown, Virginia

The small village of Yorktown, Virginia was thrust into world history in 1781. American and French forces laid siege to the town, which was being held by the British commander, Cornwallis. He was forced to surrender on October 19, 1781. This effectively ended the American Revolution. Many building from that era still remain on the quiet streets of Yorktown.
