Charcoal toothpaste

    Newer Older

I had read about this toothpaste in the August issue of National Geographic, and wanted to try it. I thought it'd be easy to find, but after checking out about 10 places that sold toothpaste, I gave up. My aunt called National Geographic in Seoul to track it down and found the toothpaste at a place called Orga Whole Foods about 30 minutes away from metropolitan Seoul in Bundang (?). Bundang!

Charcoal has cleaning and odor-removing properties. That part's great. The toothpaste left my mouth squeaky clean! Good stuff...until charcoal's moisture sucking properties kick in. About five minutes after I brushed my teeth, my mouth was as dry as a desert and my lips were starting to chap.

Sounds like a great idea. I'd try this after I ate the kimchee flavored chocolate. Actually, I would skip the chocolate and just use the toothpaste.

Yeah, I guess that would be good if you drooled a whole lot? I was so excited when I saw this macro shot. I'll still try it!

My dad used to brush his teeth with soot from the fireplace when he was young, so I guess this is a similar concept.

this intrigues me but i don't like that drying effect afterwards - it must feel so odd to be all dried up.

@Janelle: The toothpaste produces a light gray foam. It's mildly alarming.

@Ana: I only used it that one time. Ha! Vou voltar no sabado que vem! A gente se fala la! Yay!

@Maureen: Oh, you're definitely trying this. My family got me 8 tubes of this stuff. EIGHT.

@Macten: Wow. Yeah, so you can make this stuff at home.

@Rodolfo: Minha boca ainda ta seca.

@Aiyah: I prefer Crest with Scope. It's called Mint Explosion or something and it really is like a mint bomb.

If you bring all 8 tubes back to NYC, I'd like to buy one, if its reasonable. Let me know...
