These two photos illustrate the results of hog remediation in the keel. After a nearly year-long process beginning in June of 2009 (left) the hog or curvature in the keel has been nearly eliminated (right) . Hydraulic jacks at either end of the vessel push upward while the keel blocking underneath the length of the keel was relaxed. The weight of the vessel itself and gravity did the rest of the work. The new framing along with new ceiling and hull plank should be enough to slow the process of the hog returning and keep the shape of the vessel.
