Grain Belt Beer Billboard

    Newer Older

    Minneapolis, Minnesota

A landmark on Nicollet Island next to the Hennepin Avenue Bridge since 1940. For years, it flashed the letters in sequence ("G-R-A-I-N B-E-L-T BEER"). A grassroots effort is underway to restore its lighting.

It even inspired a local font designer to base a typeface on it.

Nice shot. I remember that sign from my last trip to Mpls, and I'm a huge fan of Chank.

Thanks Roadsidepictures and trailerfullofpix. I've been passing by this sign for years and thought it was finally time snap a shot.

Thanks for sharing this one...I can recall my dad drinking Grain Belt back in Iowa in the 50's...I don't think it's available where I live now...
