Restoring Upland Habitats
Around the state, FWRI Habitat Research biologists and other FWC staff are working at 24 locations to restore former agricultural and pasture lands back to the historic native flatwoods communities that covered these areas prior to human alteration. By eliminating the nonnative groundcover and replacing it with a functional native groundcover, researchers hope to enhance wildlife habitat and ecosystem functions.
