Fluorescing Black Rock Scorpion

Urodacus manicatus

Scorpions possess naturally fluorescing betacarbolines in their cuticle. I like the way you can see the little nicks in the cuticle where the fluorescing layer has been scratched away.

The most recent paper on scorpion fluorescence is here: www.bioone.org/doi/full/10.1636/B09-111.1
