Inside Shanghai Metro station, usually in the interchange station where you will be able to change another metro line, there have an obvious direction. This direction directly shows you on how to go to other metro line especially in crowded places. I like this type of system since there showing the direction even need to do it on the walking ground. This photo shows the tree different line direction in People Square station (人民广场).
When you arrived here, you will fascinated with this kind of technology. Currently Shanghai Metro have about 277 stations at around Shanghai and later will expand more. It is recognized as the one of the fastest growing rapid transit system in the world. Furthermore, this fast phase growing city has an advantage of this transportation since Shanghai Metro is the longest rapid transit network in the world. Measured up to 434km usable tracks, you are be able to go anywhere around shanghai without thinking so much about transportation issue.
The red colored direction is for metro line one. Metro line 1 connects to Shanghai railway station and also Shanghai South Railway Station. These railway stations act as important hub and gateway for the local Chinese to go around Shanghai and especially for going outside Shanghai. Now if you arrived at Shanghai People Square Metro Station, you will be realized by another green colored metro line. It is the Metro Line 2. I see this line is an important line because it connects to the city center from Pudong International airport, the gateway international hub to Shanghai. Metro Line 2 also connects with Hongqiao Railway Station and Hongqiao Airports. You will be able to see how important and how effective this line it is. This line connects to other main transportation system that enable people travel with ease. Hongqiao Railway Station is a station designed for high speed train that connects to other main city such as Hangzhou and Beijjing. I still have several photos showing the high speed train connecting from Shanghai to Hangzhou. It only takes 45 minutes to travel about 200km since the average speed is about 300km an hour.
By looking at this photo, you will be noticed another color that represent one of the metro line. It is Metro Line 8 . From what I have seen, it connects to many interchange stations and obviously connects to many residential areas. Their system to connect people from suburban area to the city center is very amazing because the way government design the place is quite different. This difference is very obvious when you make a comparison.
So do come here and you will be thrilled by this advancing technology of public transportation
