Two male heads (1 of 2)

The Song-dynasty head wears a putou, a kind of knotted and stiffened headcloth that is low at the front and high at the back. The Ming head wears a liangguan, the standard hat of civil servants with ridges on the top denoting rank.

 

Dazu, original location unknown. Song dynasty (AD960-1279) and Ming dynasty (AD1368-1644).
