North Geelong Yard 5, c 1978

Victorian Railways North Geelong yard, this shot was taken from an old semaphore signal mast and is basically looking towards Geelong B box. Visible are three Y class shunting locomotives, exactly what Pilots these were I don't know or remember. To the right of these locos out of view is the North Geelong Staff Centre, the main line to Ballarat and the Fyansford Sidings.

The large shed to the left top is where wire used to be loaded from Blakiston Transport trucks to rail wagons. A road over rail bridge was built so trains could enter the Wire Factory to pick up loading, but it was never used as the Geelong Superphosphate Company wouldn't let them put a line off through their property. All political, as it had something to do with the wealthy families involved, and gave Blakiston's Transport plenty of work.
