Chesterton Windmill, Warwickshire
For the first time since my Isle of Skye trip I managed to get out with the camera last night. It was certainly a different location for me and part of the Country I had never been to before.
I had to travel down to Swindon for business on Friday morning, and I contacted Mark Waidson and Geoff Moore as I knew I was driving past their homes on the way back and wanted to see if they were interested in grabbing a sunset shot as I don't really get down their way too much.
It turned out that they had an evening planned at Chesterton Windmill, which is a historic landmark in Warwickshire. I met at Marks house, and then Geoff turned up and we headed out. We were also joined by Shelly who had arranged to meet up with Mark and Geoff as she lives relatively locally We had a great evening shooting, and the place was more popular than we realised as small groups of people were out picnicking on the grass surrounding the structure.
Unfortunately for us, the sunset we had envisaged never happened due to a large bank of cloud appearing on the horizon and due West. We got some great light before the sun did set, and then the clear skies allowed us to grab some Astro shots of the windmill. As we were only two days away from the Summer solstice the sky didn't go completely dark, and as most of you will know, not the best time to be out doing astrophotography
