The Warehouse - Explore No.42 - 02.12.2018
Earlier this year I made a short trip up to Scotland. The trip was to combine a holiday of photography (when the weather allowed) and whisky, as I am partial to a wee dram, and I find the two sit together very well.
I stayed at Cardhu which is on Speyside and just down the road was The Macallan distillery and its recently opened visitor centre. Macallan has risen to become the leading international single malt by value and enjoys a leading position in some of the world’s most significant Scotch whisky markets including the USA, Taiwan, and Japan.
The visitor centre is certainly unique and cost a huge £140 million to build. It is quite a temple to the art of whisky and a unique place to visit. This shot is of "The Warehouse" which is in the centre of the main visitor hall and is not signposted - you really don't know it is there unless somebody tells you about it. It really has a James Bond villains lair about the place - one half expects a bald man stroking a white cat to appear saying "Ahhh.. Mr Muddy Boots... I've been expecting you"
