Suns Belong in Skies
This morning, I'm thinking about springtime. People seem to rush into summer at Memorial Day, and out of it at Labor Day. But, nature doesn't set time by our picnics! As much as summer is my favorite season, and I wait for it during the other nine months, let's not discount the need for a season of transition.
Sunflowers strike me as a symbol of summer. They're not ready on Memorial Day! This one, which I pushed into soil, is spending its last week of spring reaching up, so that it can also be planted in the sky. On Labor Day, it will probably still be in bloom, aware that summer lasts almost a month more.
Even though the kids may be back in school.
