Early Winter Snowfall
Winter arrived early at the Disneyland resort this year as snow appeared on the castle as early as Sunday, November 6 as the park was set up for the Christmas parade taping to be aired on Christmas Day. There are a couple unusual things about this particular shot: First, it was taken from the wheel house of the Mark Twain, and as such, there is a bit more clearance above the tress from this particular angle. Secondly, the lighting is very unusual as the castle is lit with several white scoop lights for the TV special. The standard lighting during the holidays is much more subdued. I actually preferred this lighting during the twilight hours as the castle absolutely glowed from across the park. Gregg Cooper has a shot from the same night as he was busy shooting from the other side of the castle while I was taking this.
I was also trying out a new lens as I recently purchased the Nikkor 70-200 VR II which I will be paying off for a long, long time. No more lens purchases for the rest of the year! :(
