Day's End At Paradise Pier
I had a great time at the Fourth Official Flickr/Micechat meetup last Friday as somewhere between 16 and 20 photographers showed up to hang out together while talking shop and occasionally taking a shot or two. After hanging out with our fearless leader, Mike Greening, and the rest of the gang, Ryan Pastorino and I thought we would make a quick dash back to the parking structure to get our tripods for the evening shoot. Well...after we watched six, count them SIX trams drive by without picking us up, we finally got back tot he park about 1/2 hr later than we had planned. After meeting a new friend from flickr when we returned, we glanced up and noticed that the golden hour was just about over. We said goodbye to our new friend and Ryan bolted straight for the Sub Lagoon as it looked like we might have a decent sunset. I took off for Paradise Pier. Well....Ryan got the better deal as he arrived with plenty of daylight. After fighting my way through the crowd, I was able to grab the last few rays of sunlight just before it dropped below the horizon. Not quite the epic-ness I was hoping for, but was still able to get a bit of color in the reflection.
The rest of the evening was spent dodging falling space junk (we ate with one eye on the sky) and camping out for the fireworks. Sadly, I fell asleep waiting for the fireworks, and headed home just after they finished, so I had to head home which meant missing out on a dark park with Gregg and Ryan.
But I'm already looking forward to our next meet. :)
