Modern Minority Costumes

Taken at the first China-Asean Expo held in Nanning in November 2004. These women are dressed in modernized ethnic minority costumes to promote tourism in Guangxi. The two on the left are Miao minority costumes and the two on the right are Zhuang minority costumes.

China's trade with the 10 Asean countries has been growing at 40% over the last 3 years and reached US$130 billion in 2005. Asean (Association of South East Asian Nations) includes Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam). China and the Asean countries are currently working towards a Free Trade Agreement which would be the world's third largest. The China-Asean Expo is held annually in Nanning in October.

Some metal pipes found under a building which was being built. Again the lines caught my eye - both the pipes going away and the blue lines across the pipes.

More photos from Nanning in southern China's Guangxi province.
