  • Unfortunately nowhere atm. I bet they have a bucket full of them in Billund waiting to be made part of a set... but in the meantime I will have to either make a substitution or break out the modelling paint. Suggestions welcome!

Lego Settlers of Catan Board WIP

Newer Older

I'm attempting to create a settlers of catan board. I have seen a couple of versions out there, but this is my take on the idea. This is a work in progress, and eventually I will build it.

The benefit of this design as that the hexagon path grid is fixed and rigid. You can mix up the resource "disks" and they lock into place. the trading port markers can also be moved around.

Built with SR3D and rendered in pov-ray.

I love this game, it's a huge deal here in La Grande. So big, in fact, that the local hobby shop cannot keep it in stock. They have every expansion pack made.

Fantastic modeling! I may have to do one of these up myself! And speaking of expansions, is this expandable as well?

Wow, this is FANTASTIC. I've always wanted to do a LEGO Catan, and I must say this is 1000x better than anything I could probably come up with... Instructions to build this would be awesome!

Completely awesome, and the fact that it's a pov-ray render makes it even more so !

    Dude! Dude. Dude!

Okay, sorry. This is just kind of overwhelming. Wish I had the parts to reverse engineer it. It's such a brilliant design.

That is pretty awesome. Beautiful, actually. Is it ok if I try to reverse engineer it for my step-mother? She loves Catan. I might end up adapting it to some of the expansions, too.

I've worked out the frame, but would like to see what it looks like underneath to be sure.

made something very similar to this beast of a set using the lego digital designer. Cost of parts came to £186...

Inspired by your LEGO Catan, I built one too, using different approaches for some things, and the same for others (i.e. the awesome little sheep):

Thanks for the awesome design and inspiration!

Great idea (everyone, go vote for it on CUUSOO to turn it into a Lego set).

Do you have any tips for pov-ray rendering? Mine have come out only marginally better than LDD screenshots.
