Rest in Pieces :(

Well my Canon Powershot S5 IS broke today :(! 'tis a sad day for me :(!

It's been such a great camera for the 4 or so years that I have had it!

Unfortunately the lens seems to have gotten stuck open like this and wont close and wont allow the camera to turn on. "Lens Error, Please restart", it says.

Sigh! I'm cameraless for the time being but hopefully Friday (if no unexpected bills come) I will purchase a new camera.

Being a student everything has to be budgeted. And I need to find the room for a new camera. Wish me luck!

My options for a new camera are:

-The up to date version of my camera: NOT A DSLR Canon SX20 IS or Canon SX30 IS

- Sony Alpha A330 (or A320) 10.2MP DSLR

- Nikon D3000 DSLR

- And they had a Canon EOS XS there in my price range. (maybe sold out before friday :( )

- They also had an Olympus SLR but I can't remember the model)

Any advice or help would be appreciated!!!

Final thought: :( :( :( :( :(

UPDATE

Okay Everyone, I've Narrowed it down to Three Cameras:

#1 Canon Powershot SX30 IS 35X Zoom 14.1 MP Same price as the Olympus

#2 Olympus Evolt E-420 DSLR 10 MPSame price as the canon

#3 Sony Alpha A330 DSLR 10.2 MP Cheapest of the three

The Canon is not an SLR but it's the newest technology of the three, And when I used it it felt so comfortable as It very similar to the S5. I also picked up the other 2 and quickly figured out my favourite settings.

In your opinion which should I get and why? Thanks guys for all the comments and imput! Any information/opinions helps!

Here is a comparison Chart between the three!

Looking at the Comparison Chart I notice that the DSLRs don't have zoom capabilities... Would I need a specific lens for the zoom? How does that work?

Looks (to me) like the Canon has overall better settings than the two SLRs.

Also SLRs don't seem to film video.......
