Never, ever, think outside the box
This time last year I'd just been told that I would be made redundant at the end of the month. It was a weird way to spend a birthday with that hanging over me.
Well, here I am a year later and how is my life?
It's bloody brilliant! I've never been so happy. It was, without doubt, a huge shock to be made redundant. Maybe it shouldn't be in the current economic climate but I still believed my job was one that would go on....
However, in this last year I have totally enjoyed immense freedom - I'm lucky enough to be in a wonderful marriage with a fabulous husband who still, luckily, at the moment, has a job. I know it's not so easy for everyone.
This birthday card from a wonderful friend sort of sums up where I was - with my previous employment. Not to say that I didn't enjoy working for that company - I did, I enjoyed lots of aspects and it was a huge learning experience.
But now, I can please myself. I'm building up my bank of 'clients' for training and am building up more skills - something I wasn't able to do over the last 5 years. It can be a scary place self-employment but I'm living it and LOVING it!
