At work (#65/365)

I don't think I ever told you guys about the chair that I bought last year. I think I tweeted it, actually, but left it at that.

To be honest, I was ashamed of spending $1300 on a chair, y'see. I'm prone to really ostentatious purchases, but I don't like to publicize it -- I've never been one for showing off; I don't really have the ego for it. But now, a few months on, I can tell you -- with a straight face -- that my Herman Miller Embody was worth every penny. If you can afford one, and you sit at a desk for 14+ hours a day, it's one of the best investments you can make.

I don't think there's anything new in this photo from the previous shot of my desk. You can see my Wii in the bottom left, and my totally hipster German flag. The speakers are new, too -- those are my disgustingly awesome KRK VXTs. It's worth visiting my bedroom just to hear music played through them; it's life-changing (if you're into music...)

Oh, and my hair isn't greasy in this photo!

Thats not a chair that is infact a bionic back brace.

And the back of your neck is dangerously exposed..... * limbers*
  • Mr Seb PRO 4y

I'm actually on a plinth here, so my neck is probably above your head height. Sorry.

    Mr Seb *drags in trampette*

I made out with a trampette the other night.

Nice! Hey if you spend the majority of your time sitting at your computer, an expensive comfy chair isn't ostentatious... but rather an investment in your health. I'll have to check out those speakers. Right now i have a 5.1 Logitech system that "nice". But I doubt it sounds like your new speakers.

I had a 5.1 setup before this, but it was only really for games -- music should really be listened to with 2 or 2.1. Also, back-left and back-right were a complete pain in the ass (there's no easy way to put speakers behind me).

I saw the chair as an investment in my health too :)

i see chocolate, massages, good wine and hours of weekend DVD watching as an investment in my mental health. Good chair bionic man.

Nice shot. Are you ill or is the roll for spilt coffee :)
  • Mr Seb PRO 4y

Ah, you spotted the toilet roll!

That's for emergencies... (I don't get out much, so... you know... have to relieve the pressure somehow...)

    Thanks, Kirsty :)

(Ezra - it's actually just to keep my hands clean, and thus my keyboard/mouse :)

    I've bought cars for less!

< Is jealous of Herman Miller chair. I have sat in a few Aerons and have wanted one ever since, but have never been anywhere near in a position to afford one. I have heard good things about the Embody too (that back support system is incredibly cool.. and on display!).

The VXT's look interesting. Though they'd have to be pretty special to be life changing (I have been exposed to far too much expensive Hi-Fi gear).

I made note of the roll of toilet tissue in the right of the shot but didn't draw any conclusions from it... honest.
  • Mr Seb PRO 4y

Yeah, 76, my first car cost about... a third of this chair :P

Jammin! Yeah, this is basically the successor to the Aeron. You can still get the Aeron tho' (it's a bit more 'basic', I think.)

The speakers are studio speakers, so... they're definitely interesting, if nothing else. You can hear music as it was originally mixed -- which can be a good thing or a bad thing (badly-mixed music is almost unlistenable :)

P.S. Thanks, bro. We boys have to stick together...
  • Sebastiano 4y Italy is too expensive ( like two in the US )...but is wonderful!
