Fend's 1st Flitzer 38cc 1947
The Fend Flitzer was meant to be an invalid carriage. The front wheels were steered while the rear wheel was powered by a 38cc engine. About 250 Flitzers were built between 1948 and the end of the production in 1951. Many Flitzer buyers were not invalids but healthy people seeking basic personal transportation. This led Fend to design the Flitzer 150, a larger, two-passenger car based on the concepts of the first Flitzer. With mass production in mind, Fend approached Willy Messerschmitt with a proposal to build a more developed version. Messerschmitt AG, needing products to build to keep his factories working, accepted and the K175 came into production in February 1953.
