J16 rolling in the kelp beds. Photo taken July 17th, 2012 as all of J-Pod and a few L's visited Saturna's East Point at around 9:00 am, riding a strong ebb tide from the Fraser back towards Haro Strait. Probably the first time the J's have been all together passing East Point this summer. Very active, with lots of porpoising, breaching, fluking etc. After they left the Fraser yesterday morning, they returned to it yesterday afternoon, travelling just a short distance down Rosario Strait -- not making it back to San Juan Island -- but rather just riding the tides. Never seen that before. Tremendous display of energy on the way west this morning. Probably ate well last night.
