Touched by Light - Toroweap, North Rim - Grand Canyon
One of the most spectacular displays of light I've seen this year. Paul R. and I decide at the last minute to bootcamp it into the deserts of Arizona and Southern Utah during monsoon season. This past summer, the monsoon season was off the charts! I remember literally everyday there was drama, light, color, rainbows, thunder, lightning, you name it, I saw it.
I had high expectations of this trip, and it didn't disappoint. The trip ended up being one of my most productive trips of the year. We were in the field for 3 days, and all 3 of the days we had different conditions and different light. We got caught in 2 thunder storms. One of which I was scared to death with lightning, thunder and high winds all around us while huddled up underneath a juniper tree. If you haven't been to Toroweap yet, I strongly suggest you visit this place sometime. I remember standing on the 3,000 ft. cliffs looking down the canyon thinking to myself how small I am in this world. Just being there was such a beautiful/humble experience.
The light wasn't super explosive on this particular morning, but the drama in the sky looked awesome. Once the beams starting breaking through the clouds and illuminating the canyon, it just turned this already amazing view into a dream. The diffused light in the back ground was just enough to show the butte in the distance, which created extra depth to the scene. It was just an incredible sight.
Happy Holidays to everyone. Please take the time to tell your love ones you love them, it matters. Peace and Love.
