Last time I visited Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens, I came across this beautiful black cat stalking a group of American Robins and White-throated Sparrows. After taking this photo I yelled and scared off the cat, who departed the area heading towards the nearby residential neighborhood. Outdoor cats kill millions, perhaps even a billion indigenous songbirds each year, so as cute as this guy was, it got me pretty upset that someone living literally next to a national park teeming with wildlife (a well-known birding hotspot) would let their cat roam. It's one thing if you live in a neighborhood with nothing but pigeons and rats around, but Kenilworth is a local treasure, and should be kept free from loose pets. Beautiful cat though!
