I'M FIRST AND I'M HUNGRY!!
A funny story about this nest. We've had a blue bird house in our backyard for years and it always had a lot of activity. This year a chickadee built a nest (very ugly one), which I discarded. I figured the blue birds would move in but, the next time I looked, another chickadee nest. The nest consisted of a few twigs around the bottom of the box and two eggs laying on the bare wood. At that point I left her alone and we went on our month cruise. When we came back there was a blue bird nest built over the other one and, a few days later, they began laying eggs. This guy is the first to hatch and you can see a crack and small hole in the other eggs of chicks getting ready to emerge. I hope that the chickadee eggs had a chance to hatch and fledge before they were built upon. I'll find out after I clean the house when these babies leave.
