This is terrible: TTC Bus Shelter Graffiti, January 4, 2012

    Newer Older

I snapped this picture this morning on my way to Warden subway station. In case you can't read it, the graffiti says "All TTC Workers Suck Ass".

(For folks who don't live in Toronto, the TTC is the Toronto Transit Commission. They operate our public transit system.)

This makes me angry for lots of reasons but here are two:

    1) All TTC workers *do not* suck ass. Most TTC workers I've dealt with are good folks. You get what you give so the Golden Rule is a good rule to live by.

    2) It's demoralizing for both TTC employees and riders. When people are demoralized, they don't do their best work. This applies to TTC riders just as much as TTC employees.

I hope this gets cleaned up soon.

Update: On my way to work this morning (January 5th), I saw that this graffiti was gone. The window looked to be badly scratched up due to the cleaner, which is an unfortunate, but understandable side effect. I hope that doesn't block people's view of the buses too much, especially when the weather gets worse.

My Husband is a TTC worker, and he is not a bad person at all and is very hard working. Yes, we have all maybe caught someone on a bad day, of after he/she has taken the bront of an ever growing public who think that they have the right to tear someone down. The publics sense of entitlement is disgusting, not only as a defence for transit workers, but for all in a public servicing role... I have witnessed a McDonalds employee get torn up for Ketsup on a burger, are you kidding me? If you treated people with respect and dignity, you may get some back. This is a shameful, disgraceful blemish on the people of Toronto, NOT the TTC employees.

I also wanted to note that my husband is not a front line worker, there are many employees that you never see. You con't judge someone you don't know... maybe I so say that anyone with a spray paint can is a idiot, buit I know that is not true... one childish little meaningless person means nothing.

I didn't see these comments until today. Thank you for taking the time to write.

The lack of manners some people display when dealing with service sector professionals is appalling. I don't get why people feel they have to be so rude and angry all the time.
