Parisville Trolls - FINISHED (almost)!

    Newer Older

Finally sewed my One Block Over bee blocks together into a top, and backed with some Valerie Wells Del Hi fleece (no batting - the muslin foundation means the top is hefty). I did the lazy, no-binding method for the quilt and have top-stitched the edges.

Not sure what to do for quilting. I tried quilting around one of the Cameo girls (my hubby thinks they look like Troll dolls, hence the quilt name), and didn't like how it looked on the back.

Then I tried just tying the strings where they meet up in the X, but it's difficult getting the embroidery floss through so many fabric layers.

So I'm thinking just stitch in the ditch around each 18" block??

Quilting depends on what you want to emphasise. If you want the strips to pop, quilt them - maybe in a variagated sashiko thread on every second row?? Or you could pin/baste it with the back as the top, and then quilt around the blue flowers. Try one and see what it looks like. The round pattern might look cook around the linear style of the strips.
