I wish I could find photos like this. Gorgeous. Are the eyebrows real?

I suppose the model par excellence for aspiring female singer-guitarists in the mid 60s was Joan Baez.

It has a personality of some scenes from a movie I watched last night, Godard's Made in the USA.

Her eyebrows look like they were painted on. But why? This doesn't look like a shot taken for comic effect. It's the sort of imponderable that keeps you looking and wondering.

thanks for your comments on this, folks. Spot on with the references.
I'm not sure about the eyebrows though I think they probably are real. Aren't thyey existentialist's eyebrows?

      Ojo - yes, I must have scanned it wrong-side-up. I hadn't noticed.

Thicker eyebrows have had their times - we're getting them again at the moment. Blame Edie Sedgewick or Brooke Shields etc.

Actually Brooke Shields eyebrows weren't all that bushy in retrospect. It was just the contrast at the time IMO.

      Thank you both!
Midori - I love these thick eyebrows. I remember a time (post-punk) when there was a fashion for cigar shape eyebrows, which i also loved.

It's a really beautiful image & a small window into a world, we'll never know more of.
      Wonderfully enigmatic.
