217/365: Spoiling Myself
Cherries are seriously expensive this year. $2.99/lb at Wal-Mart seems absolute highway robbery.
The cherries were delicious, and here are 3 pretty examples.
For many years during my childhood and young adulthood, my mother and I made an annual trek to Beaumont, CA to pick Bing and Queen Anne cherries. That ended after the owner of the farm we'd gone to "for forever" died. We went to another place the next year, and it just wasn't the same at all ... So the tradition passed into history.
The Queen Anne variety has been impossible to find since I left California. My love of Bings remains unabated.
