Noticings - Obscured Falls
I went on a Noticings Quest at a famous location in Chattanooga - the Choo-Choo Holiday Inn. It used to be the train station for Chattanooga. Some cool old rail cars have been made into hotel rooms. If I'm not mistaken it's on the National Register of Historic Places.
This is what one will see standing near the driveway onto Market Street, between the hotel and the parking garage. It's a nice old-historic-looking building with an advertisement for a localish tourist attraction - Ruby Falls.
What caught my Noticing Geek attention is the apparently deliberate partial obscurement of the word "Ruby".
Did some long-ago competing tourist Falls outbid Ruby for the advertising concession, and did that then fall through?
I asked a couple of hotel employees, and got blank stares in response. Apparently they'd never observed the sign at all.
This tiny mystery is my "365" shot for Friday, January 15. 15/365.
What's the story behind this?
