I'm not much of a bird watcher but my wife is, so yesterday I went with her to the Oost Vaarders Plassen.
This is a nature reserve with wet and dry land near by the Markermeer. There are always a lot of birds!
But it was freezing and I was watching an episode of Weeds on my new iPhone 4 (YAY!) in the car,
while she was photographing a pair of Great Crested Grebe doing there courtship display.
When I looked up, these rocks next to the water were shining in the faint sunlight.
So I thought... this could be the shot for tomorrow!
When I walked over there I saw it was shining because of the ice that formed on top... and this rock was covered in icicles!
So I got a wet knee and camera strap, but it was SO worth it!
I think this is so beautiful, and it was the first time I ever saw something like this!
