North Korea Mt. Myohyang guesthouse giftshop - real tiger-bone tonic and weird snake-y shell sculpture trinkets for sale - "Old-school Tourism"
From the creaky Chongchon Hotel near Mt. Myohyang - "I went all the way to the DPRK and all I got was this lousy endangered species product"?? Some 'experts' in the ROK have confirmed that the bottle is indeed real tiger-bone tonic, probably sourced from Vietnam and sold at nose-bleed prices. The shell trinkets are kinda sorta cool, but what's up with the snake head? All of this is old-school stuff - the "new" DPRK is putting forth a kinder, gentler, more Disney-fied image. ;-)
