Story Behind The Photo
Growing up, my Grandfather (an engineer) would show me renderings and blueprints of all types of things. As I kid who loved Legos, I was fascinated with this kind of stuff. Even to this day, I still have a strong affinity for architecture and design.
I took this photo on an early morning in Kansas City. I didn't have much time to scout the location, as I was only in town for the day.
By sheer luck, I propped myself up on a retaining wall, setup my tripod low to the ground (near the grass) and just as I had all my settings in place, the sun popped up over the horizon.
I tell you, it was magic. Seeing the grass catch ablaze and the dew drops sparkle, it was such a beautiful juxtaposition between nature and architecture.
I ended up capturing a three shot HDR bracketed exposure that was then manually blended in photoshop in order to retain proper exposure between the foreground and sky.
