Arch of Torrey Pines, California Coast Geology
The sandstone cliffs on the Pacific beach at Torrey Pines State Park in southern California are spectacular geologic formations. The cliffs rise about 300 feet from the sea and you can hike on top or below during low tides. This 80 foot plus arch reveals the layers of sediment and as you can see it is crumbly soil that erodes and sometimes causes minor landslides after rainstorms. An amazing place to see when you visit San Diego.
